Skills & Jobs Centre and VU Polytechnic staff recently attended an event at the VISY Cares Hub in Sunshine to launch ‘The Youth Junction’s’ SKILLS FIRST RECONNECT Program for 2021. Participants in this program work closely with TYJ case managers and SJC Advisors to determine the best pathways to re-engage in study and/or employment and are supported one-on-one throughout this process. VU Polytechnic has partnered with TYJ to ensure the learning needs of Skills First Reconnect clients are clearly established and well-supported when enrolled to study TAFE courses.
The Reconnect program was established in 2016, to ensure equitable access to quality education & training by responding to the barriers faced by early school leavers and to provide targeted wraparound services that support young people experiencing systemic disadvantage back into education training or employment. Brimbank Hume Maribyrnong (BHM) Reconnect will support individual participants to participate and complete education and training, or gain work experience and employment which meets their particular needs.
