The Local Jobs Program runs to 30 June 2022 in 25 regions throughout Australia, including Western Melbourne.
The program is part of the Australian Government’s support for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and brings together expertise, resources and access to funding at the local level to focus on reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways for people in each region.
The Local Jobs Program will work within communities to help re-skill and up-skill people to move back into local jobs as the economy recovers. Employment facilitators will be engaged and Local Jobs and Skills Taskforces established to identify local labour needs and help connect people to local employment.
People registered with a JobActive, ParentsNext, Transition to Work, or New Employment Services Trial provider will be eligible for projects funded through the program.
