On Tuesday, 23rd November 2021, the Minister for Training and Skills, the Hon. Gayle Tierney, officially opened the New Footscray Hospital (NFH) Jobs Hub, a one-stop-shop to connect locals to the 2000 jobs available on the huge NFH project, creating a pipeline of skilled workers to help build a world-class healthcare facility in Melbourne’s west.
Jobseekers are invited to drop in to explore exciting opportunities in areas such as construction, trades, signage and graphics, landscaping and more. The NFH Jobs Hub will also support employers and industry by connecting them with workers and provide further opportunities to develop and expand.
During the launch Minister Tierney toured the NFH Jobs Hub, met with existing and prospective
Apprentices and various partnership stakeholders, including VU Polytechnic’s Skills & Jobs Centre, also based within the new NFH Jobs Hub. The Skills & Jobs Centre will work closely with NFH Jobs Hub staff to provide visitors with information, updates, referrals, workshops and targeted career counselling.
Also in attendance at the launch were Ingrid Stitt MP, Minister for Workplace Safety, Cesar Melhem MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Training and Skills and Ms Katie Hall MP, Member for Footscray, adding a local flavour and endorsement for this exciting project.
