Brimbank Learning Futures can help you prepare, find and apply for jobs

July 6, 2023 | Uncategorised

Sanath (pictured here) was looking for a job and with a little help and support was able to find one.

Rebecca (name changed for privacy purposes) needed a First Aid Certificate to support her application for a role, something that we were able to organise.

Are you aware of that Council offers support services at Brimbank Learning Futures to help prepare, find and apply for jobs?

Brimbank Learning Futures is a place where young people and others in the community can get help with questions about training, education and employment. When you come to us, we’ll answer your questions right away or contact local services for you.

Drop in 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and speak to one of our staff members about your training, education and employment needs.

Sanath sent us this letter after being successfully placed in a new role by attending Brimbank Learning Futures:

“I wish to place on record the support you extended to me in finding me a suitable position. The role you played as a job advocate is commendable and I once again thank you for your help.”

VU Polytechnic Skills and Jobs Centre provide free professional career advice and services and are also based at Brimbank Learning Futures.

You can book a session and speak to a qualified career practitioner every Wednesday afternoon at Brimbank Learning Futures. If you are unsure of what is next in your career, seeking help to gain employment, wanting your resume reviewed or contemplating what course to study, a conversation with the Jobs and Skills Centre career counsellor is the perfect next step. The service is available at no cost.

Rebecca approached us through Brimbank Learning Futures with a request for First Aid Training in order to enhance her chances of securing employment. Responding to her needs, we were able to support Rebecca by enrolling her and paying for the next available First Aid training course. The job seeker attended the training and successfully completed it. We organised a job interview with a potential employer. Rebecca attended job interview and started work shortly afterwards.

You don’t have to be on Job Seeker to access help and support to find and keep employment. If you don’t feel your job is secure or maybe you’re not getting enough work, there are a range of support programs offered at Brimbank Learning Futures that can help you to improve your education and employment situation.
