About the Role

The Skills and Jobs Centre (SJC) is seeking a passionate, qualified Career Advisor. This exciting role will allow you to support the delivery of Skills and Jobs Centre services including the provision of high quality, well informed, unbiased and individually-tailored career advice to a wide range of clients. Furthermore, you will be supporting the Manager, Skills and Job Centre with the development and implementation of strategies to maximise the service users’ benefits.

There are three positions available:

2X part time fixed term position at a HEP 6, $82,372 – $89,161 (pro-rata) classification plus superannuation working 29.4 hours per week over a 12-months contract period

1X full time fixed term position at a HEP 6, $82,372 – $89,161 classification plus superannuation working 36.75 hours per week over a 12-months contract period

About the Person

The successful candidate will have:

    • A Graduate Certificate (or higher) in Career Education and Development and significant relevant experience; OR
      A Certificate IV qualification in Career Education and Development and significant relevant experience AND a willingness to obtain additional qualifications.
    • Client/Case management expertise- particularly with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds
    • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
    • Extensive knowledge of the labour market, the VET sector and pathways to Higher Education
    • Ability to operate autonomously as well as in a team environment
    • Well demonstrated capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise and deliver results
    • Demonstrated capacity to understand and comply with employer policy and complete relevant training.

Duties

Duties include (but are not limited to):

    • Providing well-informed, unbiased and individually-tailored career advice;
    • Being engaged in timely individual Skills and Jobs Centre client/stakeholder engagement, communications and ongoing relationship management
    • Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of internal processes to ensure the delivery of a first-class SJC customer service experience
    • Contribute to requisite VSA work plans and reports
    • Participate in the planning of and attendance at various SJC/VU promotional activities and relevant events
