December 2, 2022 | Case Studies, Jobseekers, Recent News

The Logistics industry is growing rapidly as more and more consumers shop online and businesses continue to expand their distribution networks across the country. In response to the surge in workforce demand, a Jobs Fair focused on Logistics roles was held at VU Polytechnic’s ‘Skills Hub’ in Sunshine on Thursday November 24, 2022. The almost 90 jobseekers who attended this free event were able to explore over 250 current employment opportunities for Logistics roles such as forklift operator, pick-packer, warehouse storeperson, driver and machine operator.

Hosted by VU Polytechnic’s Skills and Jobs Centre in collaboration with Jobs Victoria and Workforce Australia partners, the ‘Logistics Jobs Fair’ showcased key organisations in the sector with a focus on the jobs and training opportunities available within Melbourne’s west.

Exhibitors included:

    • TOLL / 360
    • IVE Group / Findstaff
    • DHL
    • Chandler Macleod
    • Luus Industries
    • Staff Australia
    • MEGT
    • Multiskills

Event attendees were provided with the opportunity to speak directly with employers/recruiters and apply on-the-spot for both current and future roles. They were also able to learn more about the training requirements of and pathways towards various jobs in the logistics sector and, where necessary, sign up for relevant training.

Skills and Jobs Centre Advisors, along with Jobs Victoria’s Job Advocates and Workforce Australia staff were also available onsite to support attendees by directing them to suitable employers and/or determining what additional training or resources they may need in order to gain employment.

Following this successful event, the Skills and Jobs Centre continues to engage with industry specialists to connect attendees and other clients with suitable employment opportunities in the Logistics sector.

“The logistics focused jobs fair was a great success All the candidates that ca me through firstly had experience some general knowledge of the industry and secondly were looking for roles that we can provide them with. We have roles that we would be unable to fill if we were not coming out and meeting candidates face to face w e were able to on board more than half of the candidates that we spoke to on the day.
